My favourite family member

My favourite family member is my oncle. He is handicapped and in a wheelchair. About ten years ago he had a car accident and since then he’s handicapped. I really like him because he is very funny still he is handicapped.

When I was a little child I always played with him and had a lot of fun with him. I always liked him! But now he has some financial problems and problems with his parents and his brothers. Nobody likes him anymore but I still do. He has a girlfriend, who cares about him and they have a really good relationship but nobody likes her neither.

The other family members think he just wants their money and that he thinks that nobody helps him…

I don’t understand them. He is a family member and we should care about him! And he is in the wheelchair and can’t do anything about it…

Fate

My boyfriend’s mother is american. She’s grown up in Phoenix, Arizona and went their to high school. When she was 18 years old, she got a baby with her boyfriend at that time. After school she worked at American Express. My boyfriend’s father also worked at American Express but in Switzerland. Both of them were appropriate for the contact of America and Switzerland.

They always have to phone with each other and got to known each other like that. They changed photos and their E-Mail adress and once my boyfriend’s father came to America to visit her.

After some time they came together and she came to Switzerland with her baby. At this time the baby was 10 years old. Both of them were illegal in Switzerland and after 2 months they married.

Slavery still exists in the form of marriage

In some countries women have to marry a man and that her father decides she should marry. They can’t do anything against it. For example, in India or Saudi Arabia the women’s fathers decide who will be their husband. But I wouldn’t call that slavery, it’s more because of their religion. Women don’t have a lot to say in their religion and their fathers or first of all their husband decide what they have to do. Women in those countries aren’t allowed to do what they want they always have to ask their husband, or if they are children, their father. So  in a way they are a kind of slaves.

But the positive thing about it is that they are not slaves like the slaves a long time ago. Their husbands don’t abuse them and they don’t have to work for them. They have much more freedom. I think it makes their life much easier because they don’t have to worry about their future and don’t have think about who they want to marry.

Some women in some countries have to do what their husbands or fathers want them to do. They have to marry a man they don’t know and they have to wear what he wants her to wear.

I think in a kind of way it’s a good thing. But for me it wouldn’t be a good solution. I think everyone should decide if they want their father to decide or if they want to decide on their own who they want to marry.

Jamba Juice

Today we went to Jamba Juice in Vons. I had a Pomegranate pick-me up smoothie. It was veeeeery good!! There are Strawberries, Bananas, Blueberry and Pomegranate. It was dark red and was very sweet. I also had an energy-boost in there. Everyone took another Smoothie and then we went outside and sat down.

We talked a little bit and then we had a discussion about smoking. Martin and Mario wanted to smoke a cigarette and Margo didn’t allow them because we had class. Margo told us that she used to smoke when she was younger and she doesn’t like the smell of cigarettes.

After that we walked back to school and Danielle and me talked with Margo about Barack Obama. Then we went back to the school  and now I’m at the computer.

Best restaurant in San Diego

I think the best restaurant in San Diego is “Ruby’s diner” in Mission Valley. If you are there you have to try the “Hickory Burger”. It contains cheddar cheese, smoked bacon and three crispy onion rings, all topped with their own zesty BBQ sauce. It is really good with french fries and you’ve got refill for the fries.

The whole menu is really big and sometimes I can’t eat all so I’ve never had refill-fries.

It is the best restaurant because the food is very good and the prices are OK. The location is really cool and the waitresses are dressed like at the 90′s.

My vacation in Bali

If you want to go travelling I would recommend Bali, Indonesia. This is a little Island in the south east near Australia. Bali is very popular for surfing and its culture. The beaches are beautiful and the people are very friendly!

I was in Bali last summer (2008). I went there with my family and a friend of mine. We had our hotel in Nusa Dua this is in the very south of Bali. Mostly every day we went to Kuta Beach. This is a very famous beach for surfers. My friend and me we met two brasilian surfer boys who had their hotel in Kuta.

After surfing the whole day, we went out to Paddy’s or Bounty these are two very famous clubs where a lot of tourists are. Everything was very cheap and until 12 p.m. they had happy hour (two drinks for the price of one) and one drink costed about 4 dollars. After going out we went back to the hotel with the taxi and ate the breakfast at the buffet. After buffet we went to Kuta Beach again… Every day the same…

For 4 days we went to the north of Bali. We met there some friends of my father, they have had a house and a pool there. We just stayed there and went swimming the whole day. It was very nice but the beaches weren’t sandy but had stones. We also went up to the vulcano. The view up there is very nice.

The food in Bali is very good. They eat a lot of asian food for example bami goreng or nasi goreng. i really liked the food there and in some restaurants there are little girls dancing. In Bali exists a special dance style. They learn this style when they are babies. The people there can circle their hands an fingers. They wear very nice jewelery.

Tips if you want to go to Bali:

> Pay attention about the taxis there! There are faked taxi drivers without any licence. They asked for more money and sometimes they are criminal.

> Go surfing in Kuta Beach! You can take surfing lessons there for only 10 dollars a day.

> Go to the vulcano! The view is very good there.

> Go out! You have to out in Bali. The music is very good and the drinks are cheap!

> Try the typical indonesia food!

> Don’t buy stuff at the beach. There are a lot of women who want to sell things and say that they are poor. They earn more money than somebody else!

If you follow these tips nothing will happen. I hope you’ll have a nice time in Bali and enjoy your time!

La Jolla seals

The seals at La Jolla coast are in danger. Actually the beach was made for families and their children. They wanted to build a place for children where they can go swimming. But now seals live there!

Many people don’t like that because they want their children to play and swim there. So those people want to move the seals away. However other people don’t find them bothersome and they are against moving the seals away. They have no problems with those animals and they want to protect them.

I think in San Diego or better in La Jolla are enough nice beaches for swimming or surfing. Where should the seals otherwise go? They also need a place to stay and I think that people should accept that!

If we move the seals we won’t have the tourist attraction anymore and San Diego won’t earn as much money.
